Further to my post a few days ago (here) the Lancet has also criticised the government’s Change4Life campaign – much more eloquently than my rant I might add. The Lancet article focuses innapropriately simplistic advert (on YouTube here) and the fact that the £200 million invested by sponsors comes from the likes of PepsiCo and Kelloggs – manufacturers of products that can lead to obesity. Whilst I applaud the fact that the government is doing something (not the right thing in my opinion) but can they not see the message that they are sending – do exercise and drinking Pepsi and eating crisps is OK! I don’t think so.
